My experiment is organic vs. inorganic soil (fertilizer).I have background research and the reason why i wanted to do the experiment.im in 9th grade it may have to be more detailed, right?I decided to do this project that I thought of myself because I am interested in everything related to nature. Fertilizers are a large number of natural and synthetic materials including manure, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium compounds used to increase the soil’s capacity to support plant growth according to the definition at Yahoo! Education.com. Fertilizers are good for plants but have many side effects that are not good for the environment. Fertilizers used in crops eventually make their way into rivers, lakes, and oceans. The nitrogen in the fertilizer fertilizes algae that depletes oxygen in the water causing other life in the water to die such as fish. These are often called “dead zones” because no typical sea life can survive. (Scientificamerican.com article: Fertilizer Runoff Overwhelms Streams and Rivers–Creating Vast “Dead Zones”) For this experiment, I used radish seeds because they were the ones that germinated the fastest than all the other seeds at the store^^^^^^ that’s what i have so far.
